Potpourit sonore
alliant poussière et piano. Une pièce en forme d'amuse-gueule tonitruante.
Faite de retailles et de rejets, elle porte l'espoir d'un renouveau
du quotidien afin d'éviter des suicides inutiles.

Dedicated
to Erik Satie, this piece is in the spirit of his musique d'ameublement
(furniture music), to be heard in the same fashion you would notice
tapestry. The work, in three parts, uses the same short samples (a
bottle's pop, teeth gnashing, etc...) rearranged with slight transformations
regarding their timbral qualities , pitches, durations. This piece
is unobtrusive, confused, and unclear about its outcome... not musak,
but maybe... Composed at Concordia U. studios (Montreal) with DX7,
librairian software, AKAI S-700 sampler. |

This
work puts you to sleep, as long as your hard of hearing! Working with
the idea that musical motif donÕt have to be enjoyable I made this
music thinking someone might find a score for it. Composed at Concordia
U. studios (Montreal) using the AKAI S-1000, a DX7 II, an 8 track
tape recorder and the sound designer program, 1992. Featured at FUTURA
festival in Crest, France, spring '94. |

Using
electronic sounds and field recordings, this piece unveils two worlds
that sometimes intermix. Most of the recordings were done in the toy
department of a store in Montreal during December '90. Composed at
Concordia U. studios (Montreal) spring Ô92 using tape manipulations,
an 8 track tape recorder and a faithful DX7. © remixedand edited as

A
field recording accompanied by electronic music. The quality of the
electronic sounds were suggested by the sounds from toys I encountered
during my visit at a store at Christmas time, the crowds, the overwhelming
spirit of the christmas shopping spree rush, the circumstancial music
played by the street musicians...the wind, the cold...almost unbearable!
With field recordings from Montreal (1990), electronic sounds from
a DX7. Originally composed at Concordia University, revised and remixed
at PRIM's Studios, MontrŽal ©1994. note: Remixed/remastered from the
original 100 one hundred title |
| Impromptu
déchaîné |
Composed
in a semi-automatic fashion, this work tried to capture the spirit
of one moment, followed by my reaction to it. The clarinet parts were
edited and mixed in a live fashion, the bass and drums were then added
as a response. I tryed to do this piece like a sketch, staying away
from to much intellectualism. Composed at Concordia University sound
studios (Montreal). |

Recording
of a live performance taking place in my apartment with turn tables,
microphones, tape decks, delay, short wave radio. Enough to give the
creeps to high fidelity freaks! |

Not
happy of the latest programming? Can't get enough of your TV set.
Turn on to the air waves for some familiar sounds. Ferme ta TV is
made of some home recordings, intimate sounds that capture some of
the solitude I get out of switching channels. With my favorite mantra
repeated over for indoctrination of the masses. |
| Fragment |
Pieces
and bits put together for my personnal interrogation. Playing with
subtle and obvious contrasts like cracks in a tea cup the size of
a public pool, Fragment charms the listener who owns BIG ears. Finalist

U. studios (Montreal) using the Sound Tools program, Emax II and some
analogue tape for noises. 1st mouvement of the work FRAGMENTS. Appears
on the CD compilation VOLUTE produced by Concordia University. |

Music
for an experimental video of the same name by Mexican artist Yoshua
Okon. I created this piece because the videoÕs editing had similarities
with my foundness for contrasting material. In the video, hypnotic
landscapes are interrupted by the brief apparitions of a bird. Original
sound material: the bird (huajolote) song itself, an ocarina, an harmonica,
persussions, voice. |

| Baliverne |
Composed
with the use of rubbish, trash can, garbage trucks in the streets
of Montreal and Niagara Falls. The subject of waste management gave
me the idea for this short piece. From our original fall from grace
to our return to dust and ashes, Baliverne (in french, literally:
not worth listening to), like a false prophet, evokes the infinite
cycle that we all live through. Baliverne was compose in part at Concordia
University' studios and PRIM's studios, with the financial asistance
from Québec's jeune volontaire program. Published on the compilation
cassette: Gallery Largness World of Art volume 11 from Toronto, Canada. |

par Christof Migone et Michel F. Côté avec des bouches-silences;
aucun des participants ne se connaissaient vraiment avant d'entrer
en studio. Enregistré dans le studio de PRIM, Montréal, décembre
'94. Création: Maison de la culture Frontenac, février '95, concert

Face à claques
is filled with intrusions, in a stop-and-go fashion; like walking
down a corridor in an apartment buiding searching for something
lost. A reinterpretation of live events reassembled and juxtaposed
to bring about the reality that occured, it playfully brings out
the guts of the recording session... and then some. Face à claques
is a collapsed-collage using "found" source materials from an improvisation
/ experiemental encounter with Christof Migone and Michel F. Côté.
It is the first movement of a piece entitled: frêle cocotte intime.
